Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Designer with strong expertise in SolidWorks to design sheet-metal components and create accurate flat pattern drawings for manufacturing. The role involves translating 3D concepts into precise flat patterns optimized for laser cutting, bending, and fabrication, particularly for sheet-metal enclosures, panels, and cabinets.

Key Responsibilities

Create sheet-metal designs and flat pattern drawings using SolidWorks Sheet Metal module

Develop 3D models, folded views, and flat patterns for enclosures, cabinets, panels, and brackets

Apply correct bend parameters (bend radius, K-factor, bend allowance/deduction)

Generate DXF / DWG files for laser cutting, CNC punching, and fabrication

Prepare manufacturing drawings with dimensions, bend lines, tolerances, and notes

Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and BOMs

Coordinate with production, laser, bending, welding, and assembly teams

Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency

Maintain revision control and document changes as per company standards

Support prototype development and design modifications based on shop feedback

Required Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Designer

Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Sheet Metal & Drawing modules)

In-depth knowledge of sheet-metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, bending, welding)

Ability to create accurate flat patterns for thin and thick sheets

Good understanding of tolerances, GD&T basics, and fabrication constraints

Experience preparing DXF files suitable for CNC / laser machines

Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience in sheet-metal enclosure or electrical panel manufacturing

Knowledge of materials such as CS-SPCC, CRCA, SS, Aluminum

Familiarity with powder coating, painting, and assembly requirements

Basic knowledge of ISO / quality documentation

Work Environment

Engineering design office with coordination across manufacturing floor

Interaction with fabrication, quality, and project teams
