A hotel service waiter's core duties involve delivering exceptional guest experiences by greeting customers, presenting menus, taking accurate orders, serving food & drinks, handling payments, and ensuring table cleanliness, all while adhering to strict health/hygiene standards and coordinating seamlessly with kitchen/bar staff for smooth service from start to finish.
Guest Interaction & Service
Greet guests warmly and escort them to tables.
Present menus, explain daily specials, and offer recommendations (upselling where appropriate).
Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems or order pads.
Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring presentation and order accuracy.
Check in with guests regularly to ensure satisfaction and address needs.
Handle complaints and suggestions professionally, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
Table & Area Maintenance
Set up tables with linens, silverware, and glasses.
Keep dining areas, tables, and service stations clean and tidy.
Clear dirty dishes, glassware, and silverware to the kitchen.
Operations & Coordination
Communicate orders and special requests to kitchen and bar staff.
Process payments accurately and efficiently (cash, card).
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and alcohol service regulations.
Perform closing duties like restocking and cleaning.
Assist with training new staff and filling in for absent colleagues.
Key Skills
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Basic math skills and POS system familiarity.
