Job Description

A commercial vehicle service advisor acts as the primary liaison between customers (fleet managers, owner-operators) and the workshop, focusing on maximizing vehicle uptime, scheduling maintenance, and driving revenue through service sales. They create repair orders, diagnose needs, coordinate with technicians, and ensure high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Intake & Scheduling:

Greeting customers, booking appointments, and identifying maintenance/repair needs via inspection or road tests.

Service Advising & Sales:

Explaining technical issues, recommending preventive maintenance (AMCs), and upselling services.

Documentation & Workflow:

Preparing detailed repair orders, establishing cost estimates, and coordinating with technicians for timely completion.

Communication:

Updating customers on repair status, securing authorization for additional work, and explaining invoiced repairs.

Quality & Compliance:

Ensuring services meet manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and maintaining accurate service records.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:

ITI/Diploma/Degree in Automobile Engineering or related field.

Experience:

1-5 years in an automobile service center, preferably with commercial vehicles or heavy vehicles.

Technical Knowledge:

Understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and warranty procedures.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, negotiation, customer focus, and problem-solving abilities.

Tools:

Familiarity with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and computer literacy.
