Job Title: Car Service Advisor (Automotive Service Advisor)Job Summary
The Car Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department. This role involves understanding customer vehicle concerns, recommending maintenance and repair services, preparing service estimates, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the service process.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers and listen to vehicle issues or service needs
Schedule service appointments and coordinate workflow with technicians
Inspect vehicles visually and document customer concerns
Prepare accurate repair orders and cost estimates
Explain recommended repairs and maintenance in clear, non-technical terms
Obtain customer approval for services and upsell preventative maintenance when appropriate
Monitor service progress and provide status updates to customers
Ensure repairs are completed correctly and on time
Review completed work with customers and explain invoices
Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints professionally
Maintain accurate service records and follow dealership/shop procedures
Promote customer loyalty through excellent service and follow-up
Required Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (automotive certification is a plus)
Previous experience in automotive service, customer service, or sales preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance requirements
Ability to explain technical information in simple terms
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Computer literacy (service management software, email, invoicing systems)
Sales and upselling skills with a customer-focused approach
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a Service Advisor or Automotive Technician
Knowledge of manufacturer maintenance schedules
ASE Service Advisor certification (preferred but not required)
Familiarity with dealership or repair shop operations
Working Conditions
Fast-paced automotive service environment
Regular interaction with customers and technicians
May require standing, walking, and occasional lifting
Weekend or extended hours may be required
