Automobile Service Advisor - Roles & Responsibilities

1. Customer Interaction & Job Opening

Greet customers as they arrive at the service center. Understand customer concerns, symptoms, and service requests. Ask relevant diagnostic questions to identify issues. Fill out job cards with accurate customer and vehicle details. Explain recommended services, maintenance schedules, and estimated costs.

2. Technical Understanding

Possess knowledge of vehicle systems (engine, brakes, electrical, suspension, etc.). Interpret basic diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Communicate technical issues in simple language to customers.

3. Estimation & Approval

Prepare accurate service estimates (labor, parts, consumables). Take customer approval before proceeding with additional repairs. Explain warranties, guarantees, and maintenance packages.

4. Workshop Coordination

Assign jobs to technicians based on skill and workload. Communicate customer concerns clearly to mechanics. Ensure availability of spare parts for the jobs. Track job progress and maintain timelines.

5. Customer Updates

Keep customers informed about additional repairs, cost changes, and delays. Share status updates via phone, SMS, or WhatsApp. Obtain approval for extra work.

6. Quality Check & Vehicle Delivery

Verify that all requested jobs are completed properly. Conduct final quality inspection with technicians. Prepare the final invoice for the customer. Explain work done, replaced parts, and future maintenance needs. Deliver the vehicle and ensure customer satisfaction.

7. Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

Handle customer complaints and provide solutions. Maintain follow-up for periodic service reminders. Promote AMC, extended warranty, and value-added services. Record customer feedback and improve service experience.
