The Restaurant Server is responsible for providing an exceptional dining experience for guests by taking food and beverage orders accurately, delivering items promptly, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their meal. The Server acts as a key link between the customer and the kitchen/bar staff. Key Responsibilities and Duties Guest Service: Warmly greet guests, present menus, and inform them of specials. Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and dietary restrictions, offering confident recommendations. Accurately take food and beverage orders, clearly noting any special requests or modifications, and entering them correctly into the Point of Sale (POS) system. Upsell menu items, appetizers, desserts, and specialty beverages when appropriate. Order Management and Delivery: Communicate clearly and effectively with kitchen and bar staff regarding orders, timing, and special needs. Check food and beverages for accuracy and presentation before serving. Deliver food and drinks to tables promptly and correctly. Anticipate and fulfill guest needs, such as refilling drinks, providing extra napkins, or addressing spills. Table Maintenance and Closing: Check in with guests periodically to ensure satisfaction with their meals. Handle any complaints or issues with professionalism and urgency, escalating to management when necessary. Clear dirty dishes and silverware throughout the meal and when guests are finished (bussing). Present the check, process payments (cash, credit card, or other methods) accurately, and handle cash and receipts following established procedures. Thank guests and invite them to return. Teamwork and Support: Collaborate with all front-of-house (hosts, bussers, other servers) and back-of-house (kitchen) staff to ensure smooth and efficient service. Complete assigned side work, such as rolling silverware, restocking server stations, polishing glassware, and light cleaning/organizing of the dining area. Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and alcohol service regulations. Qualifications and Skills Experience: Previous experience as a Restaurant Server or in a customer-facing role is preferred. Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures. Soft Skills: Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills. Strong customer service focus and a friendly, positive demeanor. Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Exceptional time management and multitasking skills. A strong team player and collaborator.
