Job Description

We are a cafe and bar attached to a resort and the waiter will be required to take orders and serve food and beverages. A basic understanding of the POS app will be required but will be simple to teach any applicant who has not used the system before. A knowledge of food is helpful, however as we are a specialised cuisine. The successful applicant will be taught the menu in advance of the commencement of duties. A knowledge of wine and other alcoholic drinks will give the candidate an advantage.

Our restaurant caters to domestic and international tourists and is foreign owned, so for this reason the successful candidates MUST be strong in speaking, writing, comprehending and reading English.

Without proficiency in English the candidate need not apply.

The waiter is expected to arrive at work on time and proceed to prepare the restaurant floor for breakfast service. Maintaining clean tables and surrounds is an ongoing and important part of the server's job, as well as providing clear communication between the kitchen and the customer. Clearing tables at the end of the meal is part of the job description. Attention to detail is really important as is careful sanitisation.

We work a 12 hour working day, 6 days a week. We split the tips accumulated with all the staff, front and back, which can often account for an added 6-8000 per month on top of the salary.

In short, experience in waiting tables is important, but the successful applicant will also be well-groomed at all times and be confident and personable with the customers.
