Job Description

An SEO content writer is responsible for creating written content for websites that is optimized to rank highly in search engine results pages (SERPs). This role combines the skills of a traditional writer with a strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) principles. They are essential for driving organic traffic to a website and increasing online visibility.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation:

Write, edit, and proofread engaging, high-quality content, including blog posts, articles, web pages, product descriptions, and social media posts. The content must be informative, well-researched, and tailored to the target audience.

Keyword Research:

Conduct thorough keyword research to identify relevant and high-traffic search terms. This involves using SEO tools to analyze search volume, competition, and user intent.

On-Page SEO:

Implement on-page SEO best practices within the content. This includes optimizing titles, headings (H1, H2, H3), meta descriptions, and image alt-text with relevant keywords. The goal is to make the content easily crawlable and understandable for search engines.

Content Strategy:

Collaborate with marketing and SEO teams to develop a content strategy that aligns with business goals. This may involve creating content calendars and mapping out content that addresses different stages of the customer journey.

Link Building:

Incorporate both internal and external links within the content to improve site navigation and authority. Internal links connect different pages on the same website, while external links point to credible, outside sources.

Performance Monitoring:

Track the performance of published content using analytics tools. This includes monitoring keyword rankings, organic traffic, and conversion rates to make data-driven decisions and improve future content.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Exceptional Writing Skills:

A strong command of grammar, punctuation, and style is non-negotiable. The ability to write in a clear, compelling, and concise manner is crucial.

SEO Expertise:

A solid understanding of SEO principles, including on-page optimization, keyword research, and an awareness of search engine algorithm updates (like those from Google).

Research Abilities:

The capacity to research complex topics and distill information into accessible, accurate, and original content.

Familiarity with SEO Tools:

Experience with tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or Google Analytics is a significant plus.

Adaptability:

The ability to write for various industries and adapt writing style to suit different brands and target audiences.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure content is free of errors and properly formatted.
