Role Overview

At the Demos Project, the Video Editor plays a key role in shaping the visual and emotional tone of campaign communication. This role focuses on producing high-impact political video content including speech cuts, creative campaign videos, explainers, and social media assets.

The Video Editor works closely with content, creative, and strategy teams to translate ideas and narratives into compelling audio-visual stories. The role requires strong visual sense, pacing, storytelling ability, and the capability to manage multiple timelines in a fast-paced campaign environment.

Key Responsibilities

Video Editing & Content Creation

? Edit raw footage into polished, engaging videos aligned with campaign objectives.
? Create speech cuts of leaders, video slideshows, explainers, reels, and campaign launch videos for various social media platforms.
? Develop videos from scratch using available footage, online material, and other sources as required.

Creative Collaboration

? Collaborate with content writers, strategists, and designers to visualize written concepts into impactful AV outputs.
? Execute the Creative Director's vision with strong rhythm, pacing, and emotional flow.

Technical Execution & Quality Control

? Use advanced editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Final Cut Pro.
? Ensure high standards in color correction, sound design, transitions, and visual effects.
? Review final outputs to maintain consistency, clarity, and quality across platforms.

AI-Assisted Video Creation

? Leverage AI tools using smart prompting techniques to generate visuals and video assets.
? Integrate AI-generated elements where appropriate to enhance storytelling and aesthetics.

File & Asset Management

? Organize rendered files and maintain a structured video repository, especially for leader speech cuts.
? Ensure easy accessibility of assets for reuse, updates, and future campaigns.

Innovation & Experimentation

? Experiment with new formats, editing styles, and platform-specific trends.
? Continuously explore innovative approaches to improve engagement and reach.

Preferred Qualifications

? 3-7 years of experience in video editing, preferably in political, social, or issue-based campaigns.
? Ability to double up as a Graphic Designer when required.
? Experience using mobile-based editing apps such as CapCut, VN, InShot, Instagram Edits, etc.
? Skilled in AI tools including Midjourney, ChatGPT, VEO 3, CapCut, and similar platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

? 3-5 years of hands-on experience in video editing.
? Strong expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro (CC 2019 and later), Adobe After Effects, including plugins such as Boris.
? Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Envato, Freepik, and similar asset platforms.
? Proficiency in Tamil and English.
