Role Overview:




The Centre for Urban Planning and Policy (CUPP) at CEPT Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) develops integrated planning and policy solutions to promote sustainable and resilient urban development. The Centre's work spans research, capacity building, advisory services, and technical assistance in areas such as spatial planning, urban design, land policy, infrastructure planning, and governance. The Senior Urban Planner / Senior Urban Designer will contribute to multiple projects by providing professional expertise in spatial planning, plan preparation, and policy formulation. The role involves developing actionable planning frameworks, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, engaging with stakeholders, and preparing professional outputs such as reports, presentations, and visual materials.The position offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of practice, policy, and research, supporting CUPP's mission to advance inclusive and evidence-based urban development in India.


Roles and Responsibilities:




Project Planning and Development


Contribute to the preparation of spatial plans, including land use, zoning, transportation, infrastructure, and community development plans. Develop detailed action plans with implementation strategies, financial plans, and project phasing. Manage work plans, staffing schedules, and project timelines.

Documentation and Reporting


Prepare professional reports, planning documents, and presentations that effectively communicate project concepts and recommendations. Support content development for workshops, publications, and knowledge management activities. Facilitate recording and summarising proceedings of stakeholder consultations, meetings, and workshops.

Stakeholder Coordination


Engage with government agencies, consultants, and other partners for information exchange and coordination. Handle correspondence, schedule meetings, and support communication across project teams.

Team and Project Management


Guide junior team members and research associates. Monitor project progress and prepare periodic progress reports. Ensure quality control and adherence to project objectives and deadlines.

Knowledge and Outreach


Contribute to organising and supporting capacity-building workshops. Develop content for the Centre's social media and outreach platforms to showcase ongoing and completed work.

Attributes:




Strong analytical, conceptual, and spatial thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks under tight timelines. Proficiency in GIS, Adobe Creative Suite, presentation tools, Excel, and visualisation software. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of independent thinking.

Qualification and experience




Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or a related discipline from a recognised Indian or international university. Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant, full-time professional experience, of which at least 6 years should be post-master's. Demonstrated experience in urban planning, urban design, policy studies, or development projects. Experience working with government agencies, multilateral institutions, or development partners. Familiarity with current national initiatives in urban planning, design, and development.
