Main Functions / Responsibilities The Tunnel Ventilation Sr. Engineer is responsible for providing complete ventilation design and methodology for Rail and Road tunnel. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Effectively lead & manage the Tunnel ventilation team. Should be able to deal with the client directly and effectively respond to all the technical queries. Provide technical expertise for the mid to large size projects wherever needed. Explore opportunities to expand business horizons, where possible, by engaging with clients. Expand the technical expertise of the team to handle increased business in Tunnel Ventilation business. Efficient Team engagement. Supervision and mentoring of lesser experienced engineers. Check & Review engineering calculations, design drawings and specifications of mechanical ventilation systems for tunnels in a diverse range of projects. Ensure accuracy of design to employers\' Requirements documentation. Active Collaboration with all the stakeholders. Job Requirements Develop design/technical proposal or define the Basis of Design in line with the employer\'s requirement. Review Technical reports, Calculations, Drawings, equipment selections and specifications, heating and cooling load calculations, pressure loss calculations, Attenuator sizing calculations. Review simulation on SES (Subway environment simulation), IDA Tunnel, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) or any other equivalent software for defining the air flow requirement of TVS fans and also for fire simulation for various scenarios. Review 3D CFD simulation on Pyrosim or any other equivalent software for Smoke Management system. Provide guidance for space planning for TVS fans , Damper sizing and smoke management system, shaft requirements as per design scheme, in coordination with all other disciplines involved in the design. Work in multidisciplinary teams, review SMEP design drawings to correctly develop models that accurately reflect the tunnels network, station(s) and facilities. Equipment selection in coordination with the vendor that aligns with the design intent. Space proofing of the tunnel ventilation equipment including equipment access and removal plans. Check & Review mode of operation table, systems integration with control and monitoring systems. Design optimization/ Value engineering to provide the most efficient solution. Attend and manage Internal & external project / design audits. Identify risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation plan. Qualification & Experience Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering with +15 Years of design experience OR master\'s degree in mechanical engineering with +13 Years of Design experience with at least 5-8 years in team lead position. Good Communication Skills (Verbal and written) Working knowledge of CAD Softwares such as AutoCAD, Revit 3D, Aecosim and Naviswork. Working experience of CDE such as ProjectWise, BIM 360. Thorough Knowledge of Tunnel Ventilation Design tools such as SES (Subway Environment Simulation), CFD (Computational Flow Dynamics), IDA and FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator). Good working knowledge of fire life safety codes and applicable standards of NFPA, ASHRAE, AMCA, BS, SMACNA etc. In-depth understanding of fluid flow, heat and mass transfer governing equations. In-depth acquaintance of Regulatory requirements for tunnel ventilation and fire safety in Rail & Road transport systems, underground spaces, including NFPA 130 and NFPA 502. Expert on the tunnel ventilation equipment including but not limited to fans and its controls, AHUs, etc., their selection criterion, testing & commissioning procedures, vendor knowledge base employed for tunnel ventilation. Thorough knowledge of various tunnel ventilation design methodologies and should be able to review a complete design. Other Functions/ Responsibilities Experience/knowledge of quality assurance of the design activities and deliverables. Provide innovative solutions supporting Net Zero & sustainability initiatives. Ensuring the quality of deliverable conformance to ISO 9001 Active participation in events organized by relevant professional organizations such as IMechE, IET, ASHRAE, ISHRAE, NFPA, etc. Additional Qualifications Considered Beneficial To The Role Membership with relevant professional organizations such as IMechE, IET, ASHRAE, ISHRAE, etc. CEng Accreditation from IMechE, IET or PEng from Canada or similar.
