The role of a Senior Transportation Engineer is critical in effectively managing workloads between the Transportation & Infrastructure teams in WSP (US) and the GCC. This individual will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality support in delivery of transport modelling tasks for WSP in both India and the US. WSP are looking for an experienced and ambitious Transportation Engineer who will be expected to support the HOD in managing the workload of the junior member, support in training in intersection and corridor analysis, microsimulation, traffic system analysis, traffic studies, and become the first point of check for work being delivered by GCC. The contribution of the individual will ultimately be used to inform end client decisions, such as the construction of large-scale infrastructure to facilitate and wider economic growth.
A senior Transport Planner/Modeller is required to join our established Transportation & Infrastructure team which serves the US market. The US transportation & infrastructure team offers clients a wide range of multi-disciplinary services including transport modelling of intersections and wider networks (VISSIM, Synchro, Paramics, TRANSYT, Sidra). The wider team also undertakes traffic engineering, transport assessments, public transport studies, traffic impact assessment, intelligent transportation system, signal design, and traffic safety studies and assessment;
The appointed candidate will be supporting the successful transport planning teams which are working on a wide variety of high-profile multi-disciplinary projects in the US and internationally. They will be involved in the development and application of transport models, intersection design and analysis and providing support services for the submission of Transport Assessment reports;
There will also be opportunities to work with modellers across WSP US offices on traffic modelling, data analysis, and transport planning projects, with potential for international work also;
The candidate will work with experienced micro-simulation modellers who are at the cutting edge of modelling software application. The successful candidate would be expected to expand their role in the future to include management of projects and development / training of staff in Bengaluru/Noida to grow the capability;

Quality checks of data and model outputs;
Research and review design options for both technical and economic impact;
Management of and overseeing the on-time completion of tasks assigned to GCC and to WSP's expected standards;
Take ownership of tasks assigned and search for solutions where required;
To become the key point of contact with different US offices for modelling and/ or Transport Planning tasks;
Zeal to grow self and dedication towards working independently/ with minimal guidance where required;
Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;
Clear communication (verbal and written) with colleagues in India and the UK on all matters - project related technical communication and day-to-day matters;
Support in writing forecasting reports, and other analysis and modelling technical notes;
Work within project constraints, such as time, budget and resource;
Attend and contribute to team and project meetings; and
Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.
Key Competencies/ Skills
Mandatory Skills
Understanding of transport planning and general principles, good understanding of fundamental modelling techniques, traffic management techniques, and familiarities with MUTCD guideline and AASTHO design guidance;
Sound understanding of transport planning or modelling with previous involvement on US projects;
Experience in managing whole or part of transportation engineering or modelling projects;
Adapt with relevant software skills;
Understanding of relevant software's theories and limitations;
Ability to work as part of a team and to work under guidance;
An understanding of the necessity to work within prescribed timeline and budget constraints;
Good understanding MS Office applications with focus on Word and Excel; and
Good written and spoken English.
Desired Skills
Previous experience and capability in data analysis;
Knowledge of AutoCAD;
Paper presented at / published in recognised national / internal journal(s)/ conference(s) will be highly desirable.
Masters in Transportation Engineering or Transport Planning or equivalent;
Good understanding of MS-Office skills; and
Postgraduate with 8+ years' experience
