Medical Administrator / Head - Laboratory Services
About the role:
The Senior Technician & In-charge - Pathology will be responsible for supervising the pathology department's day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services, maintaining compliance with NABL/ISO standards, and managing a team of lab technicians. The role requires both technical expertise in pathology and leadership capability to oversee workflow, equipment, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Responsibilities
Perform and oversee diagnostic tests in hematology, biochemistry, and clinical pathology.
Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely release of reports.
Validate and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables.
Ensure compliance with internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance (EQA) standards.
Maintain proper documentation, calibration, and preventive maintenance logs.
2. Supervisory & Administrative Responsibilities
Act as in-charge of the pathology department, supervising junior technicians and lab assistants.
Prepare duty rosters and allocate work responsibilities.
Train, mentor, and monitor staff to maintain quality and efficiency.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, infection control, and biomedical waste disposal guidelines.
Coordinate with clinicians, hospital management, and external partners for smooth lab operations.
Monitor inventory, place requisitions, and control wastage of reagents and consumables.
3. Compliance & Quality
Ensure adherence to NABL, ISO, or other regulatory guidelines.
Prepare the lab for internal and external audits.
Implement and monitor SOPs across all testing areas.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of patient records and reports.
Qualifications & Experience
Dip/ B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
Minimum
5-8 years of experience
in pathology laboratory, with at least
2-3 years in a supervisory/in-charge role
.
Experience in NABL-accredited labs preferred.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of pathology lab techniques, equipment, and processes.
Hands-on experience in clinical biochemistry and hematology.
Ability to lead, supervise, and train technical staff.
Knowledge of NABL/ISO standards and audit preparedness.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and coordination ability
