The Technical Head - Machinery is responsible for overall technical leadership, maintenance, optimization, and upgradation of all machinery and equipment. The role ensures maximum uptime, efficiency, safety, and cost control while supporting production and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Machinery & Maintenance
Oversee installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of all machinery.
Ensure preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules are strictly followed.
Reduce machine downtime and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
Lead root cause analysis for recurring technical failures.
Process & Productivity Improvement
Optimize machine performance to improve productivity and reduce wastage.
Implement automation and technology upgrades where feasible.
Support new product development from a technical feasibility standpoint.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor maintenance engineers, technicians, and operators.
Plan training programs to upgrade technical skills of the team.
Ensure discipline, SOP adherence, and safety compliance on the shop floor.
Vendor & Project Management
Coordinate with machine suppliers, OEMs, and service providers.
Handle AMC contracts, spares planning, and cost negotiations.
Lead machinery procurement, layout planning, and expansion projects.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with statutory norms, safety standards, and audits.
Implement TPM, ISO, 5S, and other best practices.
Maintain proper documentation and machine logs.
Cost & Budget Control
Prepare and control maintenance budgets.
Reduce maintenance cost per unit through efficiency improvements.
Monitor spares inventory and consumption.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, electricals, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation.
Hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Leadership and team management skills.
Project planning and execution capability.
Good communication and cross-functional coordination.
Qualifications
Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Additional certifications in maintenance, automation, or TPM preferred.
Experience
8-15 years of experience in machinery maintenance/engineering.
Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership or head-level technical role.
Experience in manufacturing or machinery-driven industries is mandatory.
