As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will work on cross-functional teams within Fluence's Product team developing safe, high performing, reliable, and cost effective energy storage products. Responsibilities: oWork as a lead systems engineer on multi-disciplinary teams of engineers to design and deliver MW-scale energy storage products oCollaborate with product management team to define and prioritize product features and high level product technical requirements oDevelop detailed system-level and subsystem hardware and software requirements, making use of common industry requirements management tools oProvide technical leadership in a collaborative process with product managers to determine allowable product configurations and product roadmap oConduct product safety assessments, failure mode analyses, risk assessments, and hazard assessments (i.e. DFMEA, FMEA, HARA) oLead design trade-off studies to optimize between design flexibility, capital cost, operating cost, functionality, performance, maintainability, and continuity with existing Fluence products oIncorporate lessons learned from previous product deployments and testing into product requirements oDevelop product design documents, customer documentation, and user manuals oCreate interface control documents and boundary diagrams oDevelop product verification plans and system level test cases and coordinate with Fluence lab team to determine full scale system testing strategy Qualifications: oPassion for energy storage, product development, and collaborative engineering oTrack record of taking ownership over complex technical challenges and leading others from problem identification to solution oBachelors' or Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar o8+ years industry experience, with background in renewable energy systems, power conversion, energy storage, PV, power systems control, or similar field oTechnical knowledge in broad area of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Systems, Safety, Test/Validation) oExperience developing products to meet safety standards. Familiarity with energy storage standards (i.e. UL9540, IEC62933) is a plus oExperience developing large scale battery energy storage products is a plus oStrong problem-solving skills oStrong communication skills, both verbal and written oWillingness to travel
