Job Overview
Lead the preparation and development of structural design deliverables for industrial and infrastructure projects, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective structures. Responsible for
preparing 2D/3D models, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and support details in compliance with international codes and client standards. Provide technical leadership, mentor junior
designers, and coordinate with civil/structural engineers and other disciplines for integrated project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma/B.E. in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Strong knowledge of structural design and detailing standards.
Mandatory: Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D structural modeling tools (e.g., Tekla Structures, STAAD Pro, or equivalent).
Ability to prepare GA drawings, fabrication drawings, rebar detailing, and connection details.
Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, AISC, IS codes, BS/Eurocodes).
Advantageous (preferred): Exposure to plant design software and multidisciplinary model review tools (Navisworks, SmartPlant Review).
Experience:
8-12 years of relevant experience in structural design/drafting for EPC/EPCM projects (oil & gas, petrochemicals, power, or infrastructure industries).
Minimum 3 years in a senior/lead designer role, handling multidisciplinary coordination and mentoring junior designers.
Key Accountabilities:
Prepare and review GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and reinforcement detailing based on engineering inputs.
Develop 3D models of steel and concrete structures ensuring accuracy and constructability.
Interpret structural calculations, design notes, and specifications into detailed deliverables.
Coordinate with piping, process, mechanical, and E&I teams to ensure clash-free integrated layouts.
Incorporate red marks, revisions, and as-built updates in final deliverables.
Perform constructability checks and advise on site erection/installation sequences.
Review vendor drawings and structural shop drawings for compliance with standards.
Support construction and commissioning with field sketches, RFIs/TQs, and timely resolution of design queries.
Mentor and guide junior designers, enforce drafting standards, and maintain QA/QC compliance.
Strong 3D visualization and detailing skills with high accuracy and constructability focus.
Proactive communicator with interdisciplinary coordination ability.
