The Staff Layer 1 Software engineer is responsible for building and leading the layer 1 software team as well as driving layer 1 architecture and software development for 5G wireless products.
Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance and maintain wireless Layer 1 and embedded software for carrier grade vRAN based PHY solution for 5G based on an x86 platform.

• Understand PHY-layer procedures, expected behavior, and typical performance tradeoffs, especially as they relate to PHY and overall system performance.

• Lead architecture, design, and code reviews and provide feedback and guidance on a continuous basis.

• Understand DU requirements and solution for hosting on container-based cloud-native environments.

• Debug complex issues seen during QA testing, at customer field trials, and at live customer deployments.

• Coordinate with other technical leaders globally

Technical Skills Required

• Relevant Industry Experience

o 10+ years of hands-on experience with wireless 5G and 4G/LTE systems and networks o Experience of leading layer 1 software team o Experience with the deployment and working with the field team

• Domain Skills

o Strong knowledge of wireless modem, including 4G and 5G physical layer procedures o Good understanding of MAC procedure and scheduler

• Test and Test Automation

o Familiar with SA and SG o Familiar with FlexRAN testMAC

• SW/Product Dev. Process & Environment

o Well-versed in software and system testing best practices o Experience of working in an agile product development environment (DevOps)
