Role Overview

Drive precision Special Purpose Machinery (SPM) design projects using

SolidWorks and jig/fixture expertise

. Handle end-to-end design from concept to commissioning while collaborating with production teams and guiding junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

Design SPMs using SolidWorks: 2D/3D models, assembly drawings, and

custom jigs/fixtures

for precision operations Create manufacturing drawings, BOMs,

jig/fixture layouts

, and design calculations with GD&T standards Conduct design feasibility reviews with production, fabrication, and quality teams Lead prototyping, testing, commissioning, and

jig/fixture validation

for production readiness Modify SPM designs,

jigs, and fixtures

based on field feedback and performance data Guide 1-2 junior designers on SolidWorks workflows and

jig/fixture design principles

Integrate pneumatic/hydraulic systems into SPM solutions

Mandatory Skills

SolidWorks proficiency

(sheet metal, weldments, assemblies)

Jig & fixture design experience for SPM/machine assembly

(mandatory) GD&T knowledge and tolerance analysis

Required Skills & Competencies

Mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and workholding knowledge Pneumatic/hydraulic system understanding MS Excel (pivot tables), MS Word, PowerPoint proficiency SPM/custom machine design project experience Strong problem-solving and team coordination skills

Preferred Skills

Basic FEA, CAM tools, or ERP systems CNC machining fixture experience

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

3-4 years SPM design experience with proven jig/fixture expertise
