Role Overview

Seeking a

Senior Software Test Engineer

with 7+ years of QA experience to ensure quality and reliability of an industrial automation platform used in mission-critical manufacturing and energy environments. The role encompasses testing SCADA/HMI, soft-PLC logic, and IIoT capabilities deployed in 24/7 production systems globally.

Key Responsibilities

Define and execute comprehensive test strategies (functional, integration, regression, system) for desktop, web, and embedded automation components. Design detailed test cases, test data sets, and regression suites for Windows applications, HTML5 web dashboards, and REST APIs. Develop and maintain automated test frameworks (UI/API/integration) using industry-standard tools integrated into Azure DevOps CI/CD. Execute end-to-end scenarios simulating real manufacturing and energy plant operations, including industrial protocol communication and real-time data validation. Analyze defects, reproduce customer-reported issues, document findings, and verify fixes in collaboration with developers. Improve testing processes and standards; mentor junior testers in mission-critical QA practices.

Required Qualifications

7+ years software testing/QA experience in industrial automation, SCADA, or mission-critical technical products. Expert-level knowledge of test design techniques, complete software testing lifecycle, and risk-based testing methodologies. Advanced hands-on experience with UI and API automation (Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent) with scripting in C#, Python, or Java. Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD environments (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar). Analytical mindset with excellent documentation, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. Proficient German and English (spoken and written).

Preferred Skills

Experience testing PLC/soft-PLC logic, drive systems, OPC UA, or HMI/SCADA applications. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, real-time systems, hardware-in-the-loop, or field simulation testing. ISTQB certification or equivalent QA qualification. * Performance, load, and security testing experience in 24/7 industrial environments.
