The Data Processing Unit (DPU) team brings together state-of-the-art software and hardware expertise to create a highly programmable and high-performance ASIC with the capability to efficiently handle large data streams. Thanks to its integrated design, this solution empowers teams to operate with increased agility and deliver significantly superior performance compared to CPU-based alternatives.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our DPU Runtime (OS) Driver team responsible for developing cutting edge, high-performance scalable and programmable DPU software with a focus on Control Plane device drivers and associated user space tools. You will be a key contributor within our DPU driver software team. You will bring your Operating System, Driver, and Software Tooling Development experience to contribute to DPU driver code and related host software. Your contributions will have a wide impact across Azure through the development of the latest generation PCIe adapter cards.

Qualifications

Required3+ years of C/C++ programming experience 3+ years of Embedded and/or Operating System Kernel development experience 3+ years of experience developing device drivers (for Linux or Windows)

PreferredExperience with development in Rust Experience with Operating System (Linux or Windows) configuration and deployment Experience with ARM architecture Experience with developing PCIe drivers and/or firmware

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

Architect and design Linux and/or Windows Control Plane device drivers for the DPU Develop, maintain and debug host side Control Plane driver code and associated user space tooling Develop, maintain and debug device side code within our custom FunOS Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other developers
