Role Title: Senior Software Engineer II
Position Summary:
The Senior Security & Compliance Engineer represents a challenging opportunity to lead, design, and implement solutions critical to securing cloud infrastructure core to Marriotts mission. Apply to this position if you have a software development background, have expertise in areas of Cloud Security, DevOps, and infrastructure automation with a focus on integrating security best practices. The core responsibilities are to contribute to a team working to improve technical security best practices through identifying and developing security standards through automated technical security patterns and pipelines, developing automations to strengthen configurations within our public and private clouds, and developing processes to automate manual processes.
The Cloud Infrastructure Security & Compliance team is where the rubber meets the road as to translating information security policy into enterprise standards, practices, and automations. You will use Cloud and DevOps SME skills to participate as a leading contributor to designing, implementing, arbitrating, and influencing security best practices across a complex organization.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Improve cloud security posture through software development, script and pipeline development using technologies like JaveScript, python, boto3, Ansible, and Harness
  • Develop automations using Lambda or other event-driven methodologies
  • Build rich dashboards to improve observability of compliance outcomes using Grafana, PowerBI, or other data analytics and observability tools
  • Participate, lead, and adjudicate best practices secure application and infrastructure architecture
  • Research and publish standards for use of security technologies such as secrets management, key management, or rehydration patterns
  • Utilize understanding of progressive infrastructure practices such as containers, Kubernetes, and DevOps to implement security automation within these systems and associated processes
  • Develop techniques, strategies, and script automation to discover and implement hardening to Public cloud resources and services (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud)
  • Support cloud and virtual machine image hardening and delivery
  • Support custom tool development using software development languages such as Python or NodeJS
  • Provide and presents status, analysis and reporting to internal stakeholders, Executive Management and Senior Leadership
  • Train and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the service delivery, operations, and continual service improvement processes
  • Perform other compliance-related functions as required
Delivering Technology:
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership within own and other teams
  • Provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes and programs
  • Understand second order effects and global perspective in their work function
  • Question the status quo in a relentless effort to modernize and apply progressive technologies and techniques
  • Maintain currency with evolving and leading edge technology
Preferred Skill and Experience:
  • 3+ year experience in Cloud technology deployments
  • 3+ year experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages
  • 2+ year experience in cloud security and IAM policy
  • 3+ year Linux/windows experience
  • 2+ year in OS scripting and automation
  • Implementation or management of a patch management solution
  • 3+ year developing modules, scripts, and playbooks using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible to deploy, provision, and manage cloud resources
  • Knowledge and experience with endpoint security tools such as Crowdstrike, Microsoft Defender, Forescout, and Splunk
  • DevOps pipeline development experience using Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Jenkins, or Harness
  • Working experience contributing to code repositories using git, pull requests, and git workflow methodology
  • Experience with server patch management systems (RedHat Satellite, BigFix, SCCM)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independently as a member of a team and through cross functional initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and operational support of mission critical solutions
  • Embraces DevOps/SRE mentality of automation first
  • Possesses base of experience within software development (programming)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technology solutions in a fast-paced, deadline driven enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience learning and applying new technologies to solve business needs
  • Excellent problem-solving skills working both independently and within cross-functional teams in a complex organizational structure
  • Excellent understanding of change management, testing requirements, techniques, and tools to ensure high system availability
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams
  • Experience in developing technology roadmaps and strategies
Education and Certifications:
Work location: Hyderabad, India.

  • Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
  • Experience with vulnerability management concepts and methodologies or cybersecurity educational focus.
