Role Title: Senior Software Engineer Front-End
Position Summary:
Marriott International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Front-End Software Engineer to join our Hotel Websites (HWS) team within IT Application Development. This role is ideal for a passionate engineer with a strong background in modern JavaScript frameworks and a proven track record of building scalable, high-performance web applications. You will play a key role in developing user-facing features, integrating backend APIs, and collaborating across multiple teams including DevOps, backend engineering, and product management.
Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications using React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Architect and implement reusable components and front-end libraries that align with Marriotts design and performance standards.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, ensuring seamless data flow and robust error handling.
• Lead front-end technical discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and advocate for best practices in code quality, testing, and performance optimization.
• Work closely with UX/UI designers to translate UX designs and prototypes into functional, interactive interfaces.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness across all supported platforms.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
• Stay current with emerging front-end technologies and frameworks, and evaluate their potential adoption within Marriotts tech stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align front-end development with business goals and user needs.
• Work with multiple teams to ensure seamless integration of backend services and APIs into the front-end architecture.
• Coordinate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of front-end applications.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in front-end development.
• Strong proficiency in React.js, Next.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• Experience integrating with GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g. Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, Docker).
• Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with performance optimization and accessibility standards.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and server-side rendering concepts.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira / confluence.
• Experience with enterprise content management systems (CMS) such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with personalization, content targeting, and dynamic rendering strategies within CMS environments.

Education and Certifications:

• Graduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
