We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Development Engineer (Data Engineer). Your main responsibility will be working with the team and our customers/collaborators to analyze, define, design, and engineer solutions as per Team's need. We at DPE (Data Products Engineering) believe in bringing innovation and raising the bar to best in class and beyond in a true Agile environment. What you’ll do:

• As part of Data Platform Engineering team, you'll be responsible in building stable, scalable platforms for all of Expedia Group
• You will be responsible for driving coding, design, architectural best practices while leading by example, showcase, mentor team members, Continuous Delivery, Ops Excellence
• Apply wide range of Data Engineering/Technological skills for developing, maintaining and modernizing our product suites/eco-system

Who you are:

• We’re looking for hands-on engineers to help us execute, improvise, solution and innovate! We want to hear from you, if you have developed a deep understanding of Big Data Eco-system and passionately believe in engineering ‘Big Data Analytics’ better!
• Design and develop, scalable cloud-native solution that are scalable, responsive & resilient
• Strong aptitude in Data structures, Programming and Data Engineering (at scale)
• Work across multiple layers of the stack as the problem demands
• Identify risks, issues & drive them to mitigation/resolution as required in the scope of your work
• Develop, test, own and deliver Sprint tasks and help drive the team forward
• Prototype ideas, execute, learn and enrich the overall team experience
• Not just hands-on but also an excellent communicator to interact and collaborate across (with individuals & teams) to complete your team assignment on time, with quality
• Have maturity and strong sense of ownership
• Have done Engineering/Masters in relevant discipline
• Software programming life cycle experience – Analysis, Design, Coding, Integration, Testing.
• Have enterprise end to end software development experience
• Experienced and Expertise in Big Data eco-system and strong data engineering fundamentals. Have done at least two end-to-end enterprise scale executions/project
• Good hold on Distributed messaging, computing concepts, techniques and their hands-on implementation
• Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hdfs, Map-Reduce programming
• Working Knowledge of at least one NoSQL database (ElasticSearch, ScyllaDB, Cassandra, MongoDB)
• Strong understanding and experience in relational (SQL) and analytical databases (NoSQL).
• Object Oriented Programming: Java (preferred)
• Exposure to other programming language: Scala, Python [Nice to Have]
• Exposure to API development [Nice to Have]
• Exposure to AWS eco-system (S3, cloud storage/computing, EMR etc) [AWS is preferred, but exposure to Azure, GCP can be considered]
• Strong problem-solving skills and analytical aptitude
• Time management and prioritization with Agile mindset
• You should be a good Team Player, able to switch and wear different role caps
• Understand organization's need and able to apply solutions, tools, best practices from an immediate/dire need to a long-term perspective/vision with a strong focus on Quality
