About the job:
The Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you’ll need to have a passion for open source software, automation, and the impact that our offerings have on our customers. You’ll work as part of the Red Hat Ansible DevTools team, which is one of the key areas within the Engineering team, reaching across Red Hat’s diverse portfolio of solutions. You will design and develop the developer tools projects to make it easier to write and test Red Hat Ansible Content. Using your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment using GitHub and peer review workflows, using your solid fundamentals in computer science. What you will do:

• Create new features and projects for tooling; contribute these features to upstream projects
• Submit patches for bug fixes to the community; review patches from other community members
• Educate the team on new features through pull request reviews or small team presentations
• Write unit and integration tests
• Work with the Ansible Content team closely to ensure that requirements are met
• Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that projects are tested correctly
• Work with the Productization team for releases
• Publicize the work the team is doing via blogs, web postings, or conference talks

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of experience with software development in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python
• Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or other collaborative code forges
• Experience with GitHub Action or any other continuous integration (CI) or continuous delivery (CD) tool
• Passion for open source technologies; previous experience with open source communities and development is a plus
• Solid object-oriented software development skills
• Experience with unit and integration testing
• Experience with automated testing tools
• Ability to learn container technologies and Kubernetes
• Practical experience using the Linux operating system, including Bash scripting
• Familiarity with various deployment models, including cloud, virtualization, and containers
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Fluent written and verbal language skills in English
• Experience with VS Code extension is a plus
