Software Engineer

Given the size and scale of our operations this team will have the responsibility to

• Build new and enhance existing supply chain management capabilities
• Simplify our portfolio technology stack by untangling dependencies
• Evolving architecture by removing excessive component responsibilities
• Bake in stability & resilience features
• Gracefully retire legacy applications

What are we looking for?

• Hands on experience in developing scalable, resilient, secure and quality engineering products; preferably in logistics space
• Strong belief and demonstrated ability to iterate and evolve architecture
• A solid understanding of cloud native architectures
• Strong opinions loosely held
• Experience with building and managing microservices through its life cycle (versioning, backward compatibility)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP); preferably in Azure
• Comfortable with Agile / DevOps practices and tools
• Exposure to distributed caching, failure detection algorithms & application failover strategies is desirable. Experience with building self-healing, automatic fault detection and recovery mechanisms is good to have.
• Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or alternatively Bachelor's Degree or higher in an IT related discipline.

• Excellent English verbal and written communication is a must

• Work within engineering teams and contribute in delivering quality products on time and continuously retire technical debt
• Technically analyse business requirements and be able to convert them into software solutions.
• Work on complete end to end software development/implementation with adequate unit testing and monitoring.

• Able to troubleshoot technical challenges in software designs and any production incidents that may arise for delivered business solutions.
• Follow DevOps and be able to make any configuration changes to support necessary deployments for business deliverables.
• Participates in building, supporting and operating software in a DevOps model

DevOps : Log aggregation (splunk) / Monitoring tools (e.g. appdynamics, azure insights)
DB change management (flyway, liquibase) / Distributed systems patterns
Distributed tracing / Circuit breakers (e.g. resilience4j, hystrix)
API versioning & backward compatibility / Performance Troubleshooting
Containers: Docker, K8S
Excellent hands-on knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS Modules /CSS in JS

• Good understanding of creational and structural design patterns in

JavaScript/TypeScript

• Experience working with Single Page Applications (SPA) with universal rendering capabilities.
• Hands-on experience with building Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) on any framework.
• Hands-on experience with Frontend Performance Optimization – especially in a React application with respect to resource loading strategy, CPU/Memory profiling on the browser.
• Hands-on experience with test-driven development using Jest or equivalent. Familiar with snapshot testing, code coverage. Experience working with utilities like Enzyme or RTL
• Experience using fluid grids, and building responsive/adaptive websites
• Understanding of different CSS architectures that go with application development.
• Pros and cons of component-level CSS vs global and where to apply each
• Thorough understanding of Webpack bundler.

o Experience with configuring Webpack from scratch is a plus. Experience with
Rollup/Parcel is a plus

• Good understanding of REST APIs and Microservices. Understanding of how CRUD operations map to HTTP methods for a well-designed service.
• Hands-on experience working with frontend build systems and automating the same using any task runner
• Solid understanding of frameworks like Vue or React, its core principles - lifecycle methods, virtual DOM etc. and at least 6 – 12 months recent hands-on experience with the same
• Understanding of stateful (container) vs stateless (presentational) components and how to break down the application page into components
• Core understanding of how Vue or React state management works out of the box.
• Understanding of different libraries available to better manage application state like VueX or Redux/MobX. Difference in the way each library works (pure functions vs observables etc.) and the workflows as well as best practices
• Understanding of hybrid vs native mobile apps. Experience with implementation of mobile/hybrid frameworks/libraries like React Native, Ionic, Flutter is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL is a big plus.

o API Contract design. Domain Models

• Logical understanding of relational databases like MySQL and non-relational databases like MongoDB, Firebase or Redis is a plus
• Understanding of SEO and accessibility and making it part of the development

workflow

• Excellent speaking, writing skills for effective communication. Any demonstrated ability with blogs, speaking at conferences/meetups is a plus.
