As a Sr Software Engineer in Payment & Platform technology team, you will work to deliver amazing features with highest quality. You will be working with colleagues, who will help, support and challenge you every day. You will be part of a team that will be designing and implementing cloud-native applications. You will be working with cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker to build highly scalable applications and microservices. Design and implementation of microservices and refactoring legacy and traditional monolithic applications into microservices architectures will be your core responsibility. VAS is looking for a SW Engineer to modernize the platform for digital and mobile products using containers, Kubernetes, and Service Mesh. The focus for the cloud native platform team is to leverage containers, improve monitoring and logging libraries for containerization, improve developer efficiency, and improve continuous integration and deployments.
You will be working with the VAS Architecture Team on a regular basis and providing them inputs for them to come up with the architecture for future. You will have the opportunity and the responsibility to work with the VAS Architecture Team and build the Long-Term Architecture that delivers consistency, quality, high developer velocity, security, reusability and availability across Visa infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:

• Research and implement tool sets that help developers use Containers, Kubernetes and Service Mesh (Istio)
• Develop tools for developers, operations and release teams to use Kubernetes and Service Mesh with ease
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production use cases
• Chef experience (writing complex cookbooks from scratch, custom providers, custom resources, etc.)
• Extensive Linux experience, comfortable between Debian and RHEL based systems
• Running applications at scale in Kubernetes
• Transforming existing applications to cloud native oriented applications
• Designing, building and packaging cloud native applications
• Positive and solution-oriented mindset
• English written and verbal communication skills
• Effective communication skills: Regularly achieve consensus with peers, and clear status updates
• An inclination towards communication, inclusion, and visibility
• Experience owning a project from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with other parts of the organization

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification :

• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD)

Preferred Qualification :

• You have proven ability to define needs, develop plans, coordinate resources and implement action plans.
• Very thorough understanding of Container based architecture for Cloud & In Premise such as Docker with Swarm and Kubernetes.
• 2 or more years of hands-on experience with DevOps techniques building continuous integration solutions using Ansible, Bash, Docker, Git, Maven
• Knowledge in at least one programming language such as Python or Go
• Strong Linux internals knowledge
• A firm grasp of IP networking, load balancing, and DNS
• Sound understanding of Service and IT operations management, and DevOps model, good knowledge of Deployment, Capacity Planning
• Understand the Security requirements and standards, and contemporary trends in Security in microservices container architecture.
• Superior verbal, written & interpersonal communication skills with both technical & non-technical audiences.
• Excellent team player, with strong collaboration skills and ability to influence cross-functional team for results
• Focus on building an efficient and collaborative team environment
