Join Amazon Pharmacy's ambitious mission to build a next-generation Pharmacy fulfillment technology that is reshaping healthcare delivery. As a founding member of our new Bangalore team, you'll architect and develop mission-critical fulfillment technology that ensures medication safety for millions while enabling rapid delivery capabilities to scale the business. You'll work on complex distributed systems handling inventory management, order orchestration, and compliance-critical workflows, building from the ground up using Amazon's latest cloud-native technologies and AI/ML capabilities.

The ideal candidate brings systems design experience, expertise in building highly available services, and passion for solving challenging technical problems where quality and compliance are paramount. You'll have the opportunity to integrate with advanced robotics and automation systems, while leveraging AI to optimize delivery speeds, enhance accuracy, and improve operational efficiency.

Amazon Pharmacy is transforming how customers access healthcare by combining Amazon's customer obsession and operational excellence with pharmacy services - making it easier for customers to find, purchase, and receive their medications. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technical foundation of this rapidly growing business while directly impacting customer healthcare experiences. Your work will be instrumental in scaling Amazon's pharmacy operations and building technology that could fundamentally change how customers access their medications. Key job responsibilities

A. Technical Leadership

Architect scalable, resilient services that standardize Amazon Pharmacy operations for scale, speed and accuracy

Design and implement simplified solutions to solve complex problems at massive scale

Lead technical design discussions and make critical architectural decisions that balance technical excellence with business requirements

Establish engineering best practices, technical standards, and design patterns for the team

Develop technical roadmaps for significant initiatives and guide implementation across multiple sprints

Make sound technical decisions that consider long-term maintainability, performance, and operational excellence



B. Engineering Excellence

Write high-quality, well-tested code that serves as an example for the team

Drive code reviews that improve overall system quality and developer skills

Design and implement robust error handling, monitoring, and observability solutions

Optimize system performance, scalability, and resilience for mission-critical services

Collaborate with operations teams to ensure systems are production-ready and meet stringent SLAs

Lead technical investigations for complex production issues and implement comprehensive solutions



C. Innovation & Mentorship

Pioneer GenAI adoption to improve development workflows, code quality, and team productivity

Mentor junior engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally

Identify and evaluate new technologies that could benefit the team's development process

Partner with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Share knowledge through documentation, tech talks, and training sessions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Master's degree in computer science or equivalent Familiarity with GenAI tools and their application in software development
