Join our critical Nameserver SRE team
We're responsible for defining, measuring, publishing and optimizing key performance indicators of Akamai's nameserver platform. We take a holistic view of complex systems and identify the measures that matter most to customers, performance and reliability of the platform. Partnering with multiple teams, we solve difficult problems that go beyond having simple answers.
Collaborate with others to build the best solutions for customers
You'll troubleshoot, assess the performance and capacity of our platform, and make improvement recommendations. Having identified improvements, you'll work with product and engineering teams to implement new features and products. You will develop automation to reduce SRE toils for day-to-day work, including handling escalations and proactive monitoring.
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, managing and tracking of Akamai's platform related KPIs to identify trends and changes to improve performance
• Acting as an escalation point for support, platform and product teams to ensure platform/customer issues are resolved
• Investigating and analysing platform performance to identify opportunities to maintain and enhance our advantage
• Leveraging skills in data analysis, network diagnostics and debugging tools to characterize the performance and capacity of large-scale distributed systems
• Collaborating with internal teams to help trouble-shoot and resolve escalations and incidents for our customers
• Working with cross-functional teams to gather customer requirements and influence how the business deploys and operates capacity

Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 4.5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another quantitative discipline
• Show good communication skills and be able to articulate technical information in a clear and easy-to-understand manner
• Demonstrate experience in internet protocols such as DNS, HTTP, UDP, TCP
• Have experience working with and analyzing complex systems in UNIX/Linux distributed production environments
• Be a self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to solving problems and have a drive to improve results
• Display excellent organization skills, managing priorities and multiple tasks
