The Senior Site Electrical Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all on-site electrical engineering activities within MEP projects, ensuring that all work is carried out according to design specifications, quality standards, timelines, and safety regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems installation, effective coordination with various stakeholders, and proactive problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Site Supervision and Execution:
Manage and supervise day-to-day electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities on-site.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that all electrical work, materials, and equipment meet the project's quality standards, engineering specifications, and local regulatory codes (e.g., NEC, local fire codes).
Technical Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve technical issues and unexpected on-site challenges (e.g., design clashes, equipment malfunctions) promptly and efficiently to avoid delays.
Coordination and Communication:
Act as the primary technical liaison between the project design team, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. Coordinate electrical works with mechanical and plumbing teams to ensure seamless integration of all MEP systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including daily site logs, progress reports, material usage logs, as-built drawings, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
Procurement and Resource Management:
Assist with material requisitions, track resource allocation (labor, materials, equipment), and verify the quality of incoming electrical equipment and materials.
Safety and Risk Management:
Actively champion and enforce site safety protocols and risk mitigation plans to maintain a hazard-free work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Testing and Commissioning:
Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems (e.g. power distribution panels, UPS, lighting systems) to final sign-off.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (B.E./B. Tech).
Experience:
Minimum of 6 to 7 years of experience as a Site Electrical Engineer, preferably within the MEP construction industry. Experience with high-rise building or large-scale commercial/residential projects is often required.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, power distribution, lighting design, and backup power solutions.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, MS Office.
