The requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in English Literature or Linguistics.
  • Degree in Education.
  • Master\'s Degree preferred.
  • English as an Additional Language qualification and/or experience preferred.
In addition to your CV, provide written responses to the following questions (Maximum 250 words each):
  • What is the most challenging topic/ text you have taught in class? How did you negotiate the challenges?
  • How do you meet the need of EAL students in your classroom? Discuss specific examples and strategies you use in class.
Other documents required:
  • One MYP English Language and Literature unit plan
The position

Senior School English Language and Literature teacher (MYP focus, EAL experience preferred)

Specific role:
This role has an MYP focus and experience teaching middle school and/or the MYP curriculum is preferred. EAL experience is also preferred.

Primary accountabilities of a Senior School teacher:
  • Effective delivery of MYP and Diploma programmes.
  • Monitoring and assessment of student learning.
  • Contribute to collaborative planning of the MYP and DP curricula.
  • Create an enabling teaching and learning environment in the classroom.
  • Communication with parents and stakeholders.
  • Integrate the AK Strands in the teaching and learning process.
  • Organisation and management of teaching and learning resources.
  • Supervision of Internal Assessments, Personal Project and Extended Essay.
  • Contribution to the development of the Experiential Learning Programme and residential experiences for students.
