The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring effective implementation of all Health, Safety, and Environmental practices across facade engineering project sites and factory operations. The role focuses on monitoring site safety, identifying hazards, conducting audits, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding the workforce to maintain a safe and accident-free workplace as per company policies and Project based safety standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Management
Monitor daily safety compliance at project sites and factory operations.
Ensure safe practices during facade installation, glazing, lifting operations, working at height, scaffolding/cradle use, and handling of materials.
Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions through regular inspections and take corrective actions immediately.
Ensure proper use of PPE, barricading, fall protection systems, and safe use of tools and equipment.
Regulatory Compliance & Standards
Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, construction safety laws, and international HSE standards.
Maintain updated knowledge of facade-related safety risks such as glass handling, aluminium cutting, sealant application, chemical usage, lifting and rigging, and heavy material storage.
Ensure subcontractor teams follow company HSE guidelines before and during mobilization.
Incident Reporting & Hazard Management
Report and investigate incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and non-compliances.
Prepare incident investigation reports with root-cause analysis and recommended preventive actions.
Ensure timely closure of all corrective and preventive actions.
Safety Documentation & Reporting
Maintain HSE logs, inspection records, site audit checklists, and safety data.
Prepare weekly and monthly safety performance reports for management.
Develop and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit-to-Work documents.
Ensure risk assessments are conducted before undertaking any facade work activities.
Training & Workforce Development
Conduct toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and awareness programs.
Train workers and supervisors on facade-specific hazards such as glass handling, lifting operations, cradle/scaffold safety, sealant usage, and chemical handling.
Guide and mentor junior safety officers to improve overall site safety culture.
Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Installation Teams, QA/QC, and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices.
Participate in regular coordination meetings and communicate safety updates.
Liaise with external auditors, safety consultants, and authorities during inspections and audits.
Emergency Preparedness
Conduct emergency drills including fire, evacuation, and high-rise rescue.
Ensure emergency equipment, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and emergency exits are available and functional.
Lead emergency response actions when incidents occur.
3. Mandatory Qualifications
NEBOSH IGC - Mandatory
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Safety / Engineering (preferred)
Additional certifications such as IOSH, OSHA, First Aid, Fire Safety (added advantage)
4. Experience Requirements
6-8 years of experience as Safety Officer in construction or facade engineering projects.
Strong understanding of facade installation safety adherence, access systems, lifting operations, glass & aluminium safety.
Experience in high-rise project safety management is highly desirable.
