The Senior Resident in Community Medicine will be responsible for delivering clinical and public health services in urban and rural field practice areas, conducting teaching and training activities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, participating in research and outreach programs, and providing leadership in public health initiatives under the guidance of the department.
Key Responsibilities1. Clinical & Field Work
Deliver outpatient and preventive care services at Urban and Rural Health Training Centres (UHTC/RHTC).
Supervise and coordinate health outreach activities such as immunization, maternal and child health (MCH), family planning, and disease surveillance.
Coordinate with local health authorities for public health programs and interventions.
2. Academic & Teaching
Teach and mentor MBBS, BSc Nursing, and postgraduate (MD Community Medicine) students.
Assist in the preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials, practicals, and community-based teaching sessions.
Participate in curriculum development and academic assessment.
3. Research & Documentation
Participate in departmental research projects, data collection, and analysis.
Prepare research papers, reports, and assist in publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Assist junior residents and interns in research methodology and project work.
4. Administrative
Support the organization of community-based health camps, awareness programs, and national health day celebrations.
Maintain records and reports related to health activities and teaching.
Perform duties assigned by the HOD related to accreditation, inspections (e.g., NMC), and documentation.
Required Qualifications
Education
: MBBS with MD in Community Medicine / Preventive and Social Medicine from a recognized institution.
Registration
: Must be registered with the State Medical Council or Medical Council of India (NMC).
Experience
: Completed residency or demonstrable experience in teaching, field postings, or public health management.
Key Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of public health policies, epidemiology, and preventive care.
Teaching and mentoring skills.
Good communication, leadership, and team coordination abilities.
Ability to manage field activities, health programs, and liaise with government bodies.
Research aptitude and statistical analysis (SPSS, Epi Info preferred).
