Get to know the job: This role will report into Grab\'s legal team and is a leadership role within Grab\'s IP and Technology Legal Team. The role will require close collaboration with the engineering, technical, and business teams at Grab. You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of Grab\'s Patent Strategies. You will work to ensure that the development of Grab\'s patent portfolio is directly aligned with Grab\'s business priorities to support innovation, competitiveness and growth; and to build the right patent assets in key spaces to maximise value-creation for the business. The Day-to-Day Activities Develop and execute Patent Strategies in line with business priorities and objectives including patent acquisitions and licensing; Manage global patent and registered designs portfolio and prosecution from patent drafting to renewals; Evaluate and mitigate risks in relation to patent infringement; Investigate and pursue patent infringement and enforcement opportunities, including patent litigation; Work with external vendors, counsels and other parties to drive strategic and applied aspects of patent strategies; Provide patent Education workshops and patent counselling to engineers and data scientists to promote awareness on patent-related issues, and assist with other internal IP education programs; Liaise with inventors on harvesting ideas and assist in reviewing/writing IDFs; Assist with questions on prior art search, and share technical expertise and responses during evaluation and approval phases; Provide support as liaison with engineering team on obtaining technical details in relation to legal matters such as agreements or IP due diligence; Provide support in relation to Open Source. Qualifications A registered Patent Agent /Patent Attorney Qualification in a common law jurisdiction (India, Malaysia, Singapore, US, UK, Australia, NZ) or Europe preferably with a background in computer/electrical/mechanical engineering Has at least 8 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, and driving patent strategy (ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience) Experience in conducting Freedom-to-Operate searches, prior art searches, Patent Validity/Infringement Analysis Ability to review and analyze technically complex documents, including scientific papers, patents, and technical specifications Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and writing skills Professional, self-disciplined, efficient, and capable of working independently Experience managing a team Team player with proven ability to work with dynamic and diverse groups of engineers, inventors, and business and strategy teams Strong oral and written communication skills, with particular attention to detail Ability to work responsively in a fast-paced environment.
