The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and managing quality assurance initiatives across the production line to ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality policies. The role demands extensive knowledge of automotive quality systems, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with process and product audits, APQP, PPAP, and root cause analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and execute quality plans and strategies for incoming, in-process, and final inspection of automotive components.
Manage customer complaints and ensure timely resolution through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Oversee and support the implementation of APQP, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, and SPC in alignment with IATF 16949 standards.
Conduct internal and supplier audits and participate in external/customer audits.
Monitor quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
Liaise with cross-functional teams including Design, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS) and documentation.
Train and mentor junior quality engineers and shop floor personnel on quality tools and practices.
Evaluate and approve supplier quality systems and performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Automobile / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
8-10 years of experience in a quality function in the automotive components industry.
Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 standards.
Proficient in quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone analysis.
Hands-on experience with CMM, Vernier, Micrometer, and other measurement equipment.
Familiarity with customer portals such as VW, Ford, GM, or similar is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office and quality management software (e.g., SAP, Q-DAS, Minitab).
