Whatever your career path or specialism Apex provides a global platform to allow you to thrive.About the Team:As a Senior QA Automation Engineer in one of our Product & Technology teams based in New Zealand, you will be a crucial member working alongside your peers, building modern test automation frameworks and help shifting quality to the left by promoting test first practices within a continuous delivery environment.You will lead and guide our efforts to improve our overall quality. Youll help to mentor and upskill others, guiding and supporting good practices in QA.You will lead and guide our efforts to improve our overall level of quality and coverage of test automation. Youll help to mentor and upskill others, guiding and supporting good practices in the use of test automation.You will be reporting to the Head of Quality and Delivery in New Zealand. This is a hands-on role; youll be expected to be actively doing test automation. You will also from time to time help run manual tests when required and get involved in the planning and refinement of work.Apex India office is in Bangalore, but we offer smart working, with some time working from home, as required. You will be required to start at 7am to have a good overlap (min 3 hours) with the core team based in NZ.Key duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous improvement of how we use test automation in our products and platforms.
  • Focus on speeding up various feedback loops that make it safe, fast and easy for our squads to deliver change all the way to production.
  • Help build quality in from the beginning of the product development flow and support the team reach those goals.
  • Does not shy away from analysis of the system and doing manual regression.
  • Able to work with Product and Business to be able to prioritize the key flows and help organize the approach to Manual and Automated Regression.
  • Work with the Team in order to understand the requirements during the Refinement process, identify and document the testcases early.
  • Work with other Quality Engineers to best determine the test automation approach.
  • Develop an automation framework and write tests at various levels - preferably Playwright/Typescript, but any programming language will be ok.
  • Guide the developers at writing automation tests themselves.
  • Run workshops and training on the topics of test automation.
  • Help promote a "shift-left" organisational culture by enabling and promoting "test-first" practices (BDD), quality and security early and often in the CI/CD flow (DevSecOps).

  • Confident working with clients and senior leaders, professional and diplomatic.
  • Collaborative within the team and across the organisation, with excellent interpersonal skills - understanding that "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts".
  • Passionate about learning, sharing knowledge and inspiring earlier-in-career Quality Engineers and others across Product & Technology.
  • A bias for action - because learning quickly is more valuable than knowing precisely.
  • Organised and well-prepared, anticipating needs and making it easy for the team to do good work, delivering value early and often.
  • Building modern automation frameworks, both for UI and API in at least one programming language - preferably BDD/Playwright/Typescript/C#, but any programming language will be ok.
  • Working, leading, and delivering value in an organisation undergoing high levels of growth.
Nice to have:
  • ISTQB Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in IT in a Financial Services organization.
