Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
Forecast procurement needs and plan material requirements in coordination with Production, Projects, and other departments.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
2. Vendor Management & Development
Identify, evaluate, and develop a reliable vendor base for raw materials, consumables, spares, and services.
Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure favorable conditions.
Monitor vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and service standards.
Maintain healthy vendor relationships and explore new sourcing opportunities.
3. Purchase Operations
Oversee end-to-end purchase cycle from requisition to delivery.
Ensure timely procurement of materials without affecting production or project timelines.
Approve purchase orders, contracts, and agreements within delegated authority.
Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.
4. Cost & Budget Control
Develop and monitor purchase budgets.
Ensure cost optimization through bulk buying, long-term contracts, and alternate sourcing.
Track market trends, commodity pricing, and take proactive decisions.
5. Leadership & Team Management
Lead, guide, and mentor the purchase team for enhanced performance.
Allocate responsibilities, review progress, and ensure team productivity.
Promote cross-functional collaboration with stores, accounts, and operations teams.
6. Reporting & MIS
Prepare and present periodic purchase reports, cost analysis, and savings achieved.
Maintain accurate procurement records and data in ERP systems.
Highlight risks, deviations, and suggest corrective actions to management.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Excellent knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and vendor development.
Analytical and decision-making ability with cost consciousness.
Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Hands-on experience in ERP / SAP or similar procurement systems.
Knowledge of statutory compliance and import/export procedures (if applicable).
Excellent Communication in Hindi
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
10-15 years of experience in procurement/purchase, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior managerial role.
Industry experience in [Manufacturing / Engineering / Automotive]
