To lead and manage the procurement function for construction projects, ensuring timely sourcing, negotiation, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services at optimal cost and quality standards. The Senior Purchase Manager will be responsible for vendor management, cost control, and ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and project timelines.
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project timelines, budgets, and specifications.
Forecast material requirements based on project schedules and ensure uninterrupted supply.
Establish annual procurement budgets and monitor expenditure.
Vendor Development & Management
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and delivery standards.
Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
Material & Equipment Procurement
Oversee procurement of construction materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, plumbing, electrical, finishing, and HVAC items.
Ensure technical and commercial evaluations are carried out in coordination with engineering and project teams.
Monitor logistics, delivery schedules, and inventory to prevent delays or shortages.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and contractual obligations.
Maintain accurate purchase records, vendor databases, and audit trails for all procurement transactions.
Coordinate with finance and legal teams for contract finalization and vendor payments.
Cost Control & Process Improvement
Implement cost-saving initiatives through value engineering, bulk procurement, and strategic sourcing.
Continuously review procurement processes for efficiency and transparency.
Prepare periodic MIS reports on procurement status, cost performance, and supplier performance metrics.
Qualifications:
Education:
B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; MBA in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of procurement experience in the construction industry, with at least 3-5 years in a senior role.
Skills:
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
In-depth knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and contracting
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and MS Office
