Job Description

The Foundation We are the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on a simple premise: people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives. We believe our employees should reflect the rich diversity of the global populations we aim to serve. We provide an exceptional benefits package to employees and their families which include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with no premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, foundation-paid retirement contribution, regional holidays, and opportunities to engage in several employee communities. As a workplace, we\xe2\x80\x99re committed to creating an environment for you to thrive both personally and professionally. The Team From the foundation\xe2\x80\x99s inception, it has focused on addressing the problems that most seriously imperil the health and well-being of the world\xe2\x80\x99s poorest people. The Global Growth and Opportunities or GGO Division advances this mission by helping to improve the financial, sanitation, agricultural and education systems so that the poor \xe2\x80\x93 especially the poorest women and girls \xe2\x80\x93 to more fully participate in their economy and society. We seek solutions that are sustainable, transformative, data-driven, and inclusive.

Agricultural Development is one of the largest initiatives of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and falls under their Global Growth and Opportunities Division. To date, they have committed more than US$2 billion to agricultural development efforts, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The goal of the foundation is to reduce hunger and poverty for millions of farming families in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia by increasing agricultural productivity in a sustainable way.

As we embark on the journey towards inclusive agricultural transformation, there is an urgent need to support vulnerable communities around the world. That includes most people in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, where most households earn income by producing a mix of crops and livestock. We are working with an international coalition of partners to ensure these small-scale producers including livestock keepers have access to a wide range of climate-smart innovations. This work is part of our broader effort to support environmentally sustainable, resilient food systems that generate a good income for rural farming communities; provide consumers with access to healthy, affordable diets; and create economic opportunities that empower women.

In India, we work towards adopting solutions that respond to national and state-level demand and integrate our investments with the public and private sector, and where our strategic focus areas align with government priorities for agricultural development. We align resources and interventions with government and in-country partner priorities, convene new partnerships to generate evidence and adopt innovative models to the larger Asian context, generate evidence for policy making, other decision-making, and help shape inclusive markets.
