Senior Product Engineer - Consumer Apps

, you will craft and optimize the software experience that connects our hardware (like the Ultrahuman Ring and other devices) to the end user. This is a role for an engineer who loves product design and user experience as much as coding - someone who thinks about the "why" behind features and pursues a first-principles approach to delight users. In a culture as design- and engineering-focused as Ultrahuman's (inspired by the seamless integration ethos of Apple), you'll have the opportunity to build an app that is not just functional, but revolutionary in helping people understand and improve their health.

Responsibilities:

Feature Development:

Design, build, and maintain core features of the Ultrahuman consumer application (mobile and/or web). Examples include interactive dashboards for health scores, real-time data visualizations from our sensors, personalized coaching or alert systems, and social/community features that keep users engaged.

User Experience Focus:

Work closely with the design and product teams to implement a sleek, intuitive UI/UX. From a first-principles perspective, rethink how complex health data should be presented - e.g., invent new visualizations or summary metrics that simplify the user's decision-making. Ensure that every interaction in the app feels smooth and responsive.

Integration with Hardware & Backend:

Implement seamless data synchronization between the app, wearable devices, and cloud backend. Optimize Bluetooth or network communication to ensure timely, reliable data transfer from Ultrahuman devices to the user's app. When the hardware team introduces a new sensor or data type, you'll quickly integrate support for it in the app.

Performance & Quality:

Own the app's performance--optimize for speed, resource usage, and battery life impact. Continuously improve code quality through code reviews, writing unit/integration tests, and monitoring crash reports or user feedback for any issues.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date with the latest platform (iOS/Android/Web) capabilities and industry trends. Introduce best practices and modern technologies to the app codebase (for instance, new frameworks, improved architectures, or AI-driven features) to keep Ultrahuman's app on the cutting edge.


Requirements

Educational Background:

Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

5+ years of software development experience, with a significant part in consumer-facing app development. You have launched or significantly contributed to at least one high-quality mobile app (Android, iOS) or complex web application.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Swift/Kotlin for mobile, React Native/Flutter or React/Angular for web, etc.). Strong understanding of mobile platform guidelines and best practices. Experience with integrating RESTful APIs, Bluetooth/BLE communications, and real-time data updates in apps.

Product Mindset:

Ability to think from the user's perspective. Experience working closely with designers or being involved in usability testing, demonstrating an eye for good design and a feel for user behavior.

Problem Solving:

Demonstrated experience taking a complex concept and implementing it in a simple way for users. (For example, turned a raw data stream into an actionable insight feature.) Strong debugging and optimization skills.

Preferred Experience:

Health/Fitness Domain:

Experience in health tech, fitness apps, or other data-heavy consumer applications where you dealt with sensor data, charts, or personalized content.

Cross-Platform Knowledge:

Familiarity with both iOS and Android development (even if expertise is stronger in one) or experience with cross-platform frameworks. Understanding how to create a consistent experience across different devices.

Scalable Architecture:

Knowledge of building apps that can handle growing user bases and data volumes - e.g., using patterns like MVP/MVVM, dependency injection, and modular design to keep the app maintainable. *

First-Principles Approach:

A track record of "rethinking" features from the ground up. Perhaps you have examples of questioning a product requirement and proposing a better alternative that was successful. We value that kind of initiative and creativity.
