The Role


What is the Role?
  • Drive Rotating Equipment assurance by supporting RE Monitoring technology and global delivery. This includes design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support 1st principal models into rule sets for Proactive Technical Monitoring and Analytics.
  • Support Shell assets in improving reliability through monitoring of facilities and equipment and prevent unscheduled deferments
  • Enable the assigned Shell’s Upstream/IG/DS Operating units, and its on-site employees in producing high value information and data for high quality asset maintenance / condition monitoring / performance improvements.
  • Assist onsite condition monitoring / rotating equipment engineers in understanding the data models and help them to improve the availability of the equipment.
  • Analyze technical data, drawings (P&IDs. PEFS, PFD, SLD etc.) documents and processes for Upstream businesses across the globe by working with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams & partners.
  • Developing remote monitoring models for rotating /static equipment and process valves and enable the data accessible to rotating engineers within shell.
  • Support projects, maintenance & improvements activities performed at the upstream & intergrated gas operating units.

Technical
  • Frontline RE monitoring support grooming rotating machinery 1st Principal monitoring for value
  • Share and promote lessons learned opportunities that enhances rotating machinery monitoring for value
  • Provide frontline training that increases asset independence, capability, and knowhow
  • Make and support engineering recommendations
  • Troubleshoot and solve rotating machinery monitoring issues
  • Support developing technical specifications
  • Support Proactive Technical Monitoring including integrating SmartConnect with EBS & PTM-Hub
  • Support Shell.ai and Veros machine analytics
  • Support developing, implementing, and maintaining 5-year Roadmap forecast
Financial Dimensions Support assets in achieving their KPIs through monitoring of rotating equipment – help in improving process efficiency, reliability, health of equipment and over all process Business Dimensions This role is expected to Support Proactive Technical Monitoring Process to support Shell’s Upstream, Downstream and Integrated Gas in improving reliability of their rotating equipment by preventing unscheduled deferment through monitoring Skills & Requirements University Degree in Mechanical engineering and required 6+ yrs. of industrial/field experience in rotating machinery operation and maintenance/engineering/ technical jobs in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals with experience in: -
  • Design, maintenance, troubleshooting experience and Knowledge of rotating machines such as centrifugal compressor, gas turbine, steam turbine, centrifugal pump, reciprocating compressor, screw compressor, positive displacement pump, Induced/Forced draught fan, cooler fan and blower.
  • Understanding machine drawings, PEFS, seal gas P&ID, Lube oil P&ID, seal oil P&ID, seal gas P&ID, instrument drawings, vibration & temperature P&ID, alarm/trip matrix, performance curves and data sheet of rotating equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge in rotating machines performance and health monitoring.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in vibration analysis, thermography, lube oil analysis and other condition monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in troubleshooting of heavy rotating equipment’s such as gas turbines, steam turbines, Reciprocating, centrifugal compressors and pumps.
  • Understanding of newer IT technologies, Data Analysis techniques and data visualizations is desirable.
  • A good understanding of the Upstream/DS/IG business and how it works.
  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within different cultural settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.
