3) Receive the patients and explaining about his/ her treatment, and plan of care and importance of therapy for ortho, neuro and plastic patients.
4) Be responsible to develop and review the treatment programs.
5) Educate and advise patients & their relatives to improve patient's condition.
6) Carry out mobility risk assessments when specialist intervention is required.
7) Evaluate the function of the musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory and circulatory systems:
Measure joint range and muscle strength, voluntary control, balance, deformities.
Test for loss of sensation.
Evaluate the nature of pain.
Analyse patterns of posture and movement, GAIT patterns.
Assess the psycho-social situation of the patients.
8) Give advice on coping with chronic illness.
9) Assist patients with joint, spinal and plastic problems, especially following surgery.
10) Assist patients' rehabilitation (ortho, neuro, plastic, cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation) following accidents, injury and stroke.
11) Promptness and accuracy in writing patient case notes and reports.
12) Ensure proper collection of patient statistics (pre and post op, follow up, assessment charts and videos)
13) G.ive care to the patients in ICU and wards: Chest physio, DBE, Incentive spirometer, Chest Expansion Exercises, Postural Drainage, Suctioning, Nebulization for ventilator patients, Positioning of the patient, frequent turning of the patient in bed, train patients in GAIT, POSTURAL & ADL.
14) Explain the importance of Home exercise program to the patients.
15) Be responsible for equipment used in course of treatment.
16) House visit is mandatory in order to train the patients to come out from their ailment.
17) Need to adhere to the following activities during house visit.
House Visit
1) Responsible to give independent GAIT training, STAIR climbing training, transfers in and out of vehicles.
2) Train the patient in ADL and instrumental ADL, Vocational training for patients with upper limb problems.
3) Responsible in doing home modifications to improve the independence level of the patient.
Patient Care
1) Treat all patients with care and compassion, respecting their dignity.
2) Provide therapy plans including assessment, problem solving and development and appropriate treatment plan.
3) Prescribe, fabricate and provide appropriate splinting and prescription of assisting aides and equipment.
4) Conduct home and hospital visits as requested.
5) Maintain confidentiality in patient details.
Documentation
1) Strictly follow the hospital rules, regulations and policies.
2) Maintain accurate clinical documentation properly.
3) Taking rounds with Doctors and carry out their instructions.
4) Strictly avoid wastage of stationery items in the unit.
5) Inform any breakage or damage caused to the equipment to your HOD.
6) Maintain all files and registers on a daily basis.
7) House visit report to be submitted to the HOD everyday.
8) Report any incident to the HOD and the Management then and there.
Attendance & Grooming
1) Punctuality should be maintained.
2) Leaves should be informed in advance.
3) Coats should be clean and tidy.
4) Follow proper grooming standards as framed by the Management.
5) Wear ID card while on duty.
Communication
1) Proper handing over should be given to the next shift therapist.
2) Clear & comprehensive in transferring and sharing the information (written & oral) about patients to Doctors and Colleagues.
3) Maintain good interpersonal relationship with patients, their relatives.
4) Maintain good interpersonal relationship with all staff.
Safety Precautions
1) Create safe environment in the department.
2) Strictly follow infection control procedures.
3) Maintain a high level of personal hygiene in general & hand hygiene.
Training & Education
1) Keep updated with new techniques & technologies available for treating patients.
2) Participate in various training programs (both internal & external) to enhance knowledge.
3) Implement the training received at work.
4) Assist or train the colleagues & juniors in the department.
5) Conducting regular health education for patients.
6) Give orientation to patients and relatives about services, facilities, policy rules and regulations of the hospital and Patient's Rights & Responsibilities.
