The Senior Overseas Student Counselor is responsible for guiding students through the entire process of studying abroad, from initial consultation to enrollment. This role requires deep knowledge of international education systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide personalized, high-quality support. The counselor will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of counseling strategies and service improvements.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Counseling & Advisory
Provide one-on-one consultations to students on study-abroad options, including programs, universities, admission criteria, and career pathways.
Assess students' academic backgrounds, interests, and goals to recommend suitable countries, institutions, and courses.
Guide students through application processes, documentation requirements, and timelines.
Offer accurate and up-to-date advice on visa procedures, financial requirements, and pre-departure preparations.
Application & Documentation Management
Review and edit application materials, including personal statements, portfolios, and resumes.
Ensure all documents meet university and immigration standards.
Coordinate with international institutions on admissions updates, interview schedules, and offer letters.
Client Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with students and parents, offering continuous support throughout the counseling journey.
Handle complex or escalated cases and provide solutions in a timely, professional manner.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure high ethical standards in student interactions.
Team Leadership & Training
Mentor and support junior counselors, providing training on counseling techniques and study-abroad procedures.
Conduct workshops, seminars, and outreach sessions for students, parents, and academic partners.
Contribute to developing counseling resources, tools, and best practices.
Market & Partner Engagement
Stay updated on global education trends, immigration regulations, and university requirements.
Build and maintain relationships with international universities and education partners.
Participate in education fairs, recruitment events, and marketing activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in international education counseling or overseas admissions.
Strong understanding of university admission systems in major study-abroad destinations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Ability to handle multiple cases with professionalism and efficiency.
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office; multilingual abilities are an advantage.
