Job Description

: Optometrist

Level: Sr. Clinical Optom

Job Expectations:

Clinical:

1. To supervise the maintenance & care of infrastructure & optometric instruments-equipment like Tonometer, Vision Drum etc. at the work station & ensure availability of all protocol led requirements in an assessment.

2. To recheck/ organize rechecking of clinical processes (monitoring mechanism) in OPD.

3. To provide the mock clinic training to an optometrist joining SCEH at any level& finally credentialing them before they are posted in the OPD.

4. To adhere to & ensure enforcement of SOPs regarding clinical processes such as diagnosis, refraction, etc.

5. Responsible for ensuring patient care & satisfaction.

Academic:

1. To take classes for the various courses, particularly B.Sc., Fellows & Interns.

2. To examine and assess the students.

3. To mentor the students on all issues.

4. Participation and presentations in CMEs and Conferences.

5. To provide pre-clinic workshop training.

6. To plan & organize workshop/ conferences/ CMEs for internal & external purposes.

Research:

1. To engage a junior in at least one clinical study; and aat least one publication/ article.

2. To ensure growth of the specific sub-specialty by bringing in better techniques & projects.

3. To develop research-studies in the specific sub-specialty, for publication & conferences.

Administrative:

1. To head the specific Research/ Project / academic programme & contribute to its growth.

2. To perform in managerial & coordinating roles that may be required/ asked of.

Skills:

Technical:

Masterful knowledge about various equipments & ways to maintain them.

Masterful knowledge about various ocular conditions & possibilities; corresponding exercises, and possible causes, so that the patient is referred to the relevant specialty.

Masterful at conducting accurate refractions and prescribing of glasses.

Expertly documenting condition & assessment in specific optometric details.

Expert Knowledge about various teaching methods and class-management skills.

Seeking out clinical developments & trends and contextualizing/ improvising them.

Expert knowledge about the hospital ethos, policy, activities and SOPs.

General:

Formal communication in a hierarchy.

Sound-rational method of reaching an assessment/ judgment.

Detail-oriented and holistic perspective.

Aligning process with policy, to understand- enforce & ensure adherence to policy.

Key Performance Indicators:

a) Percentage protocol followed as audited

b) Percentage unplanned leaves

c) Number of meetings and CME's attended

d) Number of instances of indiscipline/ complaints

e) Lost time (in hrs..) due to delay in processes

f) Regularity in teaching / efficiency in other responsibilities

g) Achieving targets set by the sub-specialty in line with the goals of the department

h) Proposals created and accepted, i.e., by getting funding support or as projects.

i) Number of presentations made during workshops, CMEs; Meetings, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
