The Senior Nursing Officer (SNO) is responsible for supervising nursing activities, ensuring high-quality patient care, and coordinating nursing staff in their assigned wards or departments. The role involves administrative, supervisory, and clinical responsibilities, with a focus on maintaining nursing standards, staff discipline, and compliance with hospital policies and NABH/NABL standards.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor nursing care provided to patients.
Ensure timely administration of medications and treatment as per physician's orders.
Monitor critically ill patients and provide guidance to junior staff.
Maintain infection control practices and patient safety protocols.
Attend ward rounds with doctors and assist in clinical procedures when required.
Supervisory & Administrative Responsibilities:
Assign duties and prepare duty rosters for nursing staff.
Ensure adequate staffing in all shifts.
Monitor attendance, punctuality, and discipline of nursing staff.
Supervise maintenance of patient records, reports, and documentation.
Coordinate with doctors, hospital management, and other departments for smooth workflow.
Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with NABH/NABL/JCI standards.
Monitor hygiene, sanitation, and biomedical waste management.
Conduct audits of nursing services and suggest improvements.
Handle patient/attendant complaints related to nursing services.
Training & Development:
Mentor and guide junior nursing officers, staff nurses, and trainees.
Identify training needs and coordinate with the Nursing Superintendent for workshops/CMEs.
Encourage continuous professional development among the nursing team.
