Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our hospital's IT team and provide expert-level support for our comprehensive Cisco network infrastructure. This role requires 7-10 years of hands-on experience in network Layer 2 support and deep expertise across Cisco's complete product portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level network solutions in a critical healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Management

Design, configure, and maintain comprehensive Cisco switching and routing infrastructure

Provide expert-level Layer 2 support including VLAN management, STP optimization, and EtherChannel configurations

Implement and manage Cisco Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions and ACI fabric

Configure and maintain Cisco switching platforms including Catalyst and Nexus series switches

Support Cisco routing technologies including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP implementations

Cisco Security Solutions

Configure and maintain Cisco Firewall solutions (ASA and FTD) for network security and segmentation

Implement and manage Cisco Umbrella cloud security platform for DNS filtering and threat protection

Deploy and support Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) for network access control

Configure Cisco VPN solutions including AnyConnect and site-to-site VPN connections

Manage Cisco Endpoint Security solutions for comprehensive device protection

Unified Communications Support

Support and maintain Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) for unified communications and telephony

Configure and troubleshoot Cisco Telepresence systems for telemedicine and collaboration

Manage Cisco Unity Connection and voice gateway configurations

Provide support for IP telephony infrastructure and endpoint devices

Network Operations & Monitoring

Ensure 24/7 availability of critical network infrastructure supporting healthcare systems

Implement network monitoring solutions using Cisco Prime and third-party tools

Perform network performance analysis and optimization

Conduct regular network health assessments and capacity planning

Maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and procedures

Required Qualifications

Experience & Education

7-10 years of hands-on network engineering experience with focus on Cisco technologies

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field

Healthcare IT experience preferred

Experience in 24/7 operations environment

Essential Cisco Technical Skills

Cisco Switching & Layer 2 Technologies:

Expert-level experience with Cisco Catalyst switch series (2960, 3850, 9300, 9500)

Advanced knowledge of VLANs, VTP, STP (RSTP/MSTP), EtherChannel, and Port Security

Experience with Cisco Nexus switching platforms and VPC configurations

Understanding of Layer 2 troubleshooting methodologies and tools

Cisco Routing Technologies:

Proficiency with Cisco ISR and ASR router platforms

Strong knowledge of routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP

Experience with policy-based routing and route redistribution

Understanding of WAN technologies and MPLS

Cisco Security Portfolio:

Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and FTD (Firepower Threat Defense)

Knowledge of Cisco ISE deployment and policy configuration

Experience with Cisco Umbrella cloud security platform

Understanding of network access control and 802.1X implementations

Cisco SDN and Advanced Technologies:

Experience with Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure)

Knowledge of Cisco DNA Center and SD-WAN solutions

Understanding of software-defined networking concepts

Familiarity with network automation and programmability

Additional Technical Requirements

VPN Technologies: AnyConnect, site-to-site VPN, DMVPN configurations

Wireless Networking: Cisco wireless controllers and access point management

Network Monitoring: Experience with SNMP, NetFlow, and network analysis tools

Virtualization: Understanding of network requirements for Citrix and VMware environments

Professional Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Excellent troubleshooting skills with systematic approach to issue resolution

Experience with change management processes and ITIL framework

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Capability to work in high-pressure situations with critical system dependencies

Required Certifications

Minimum Required:

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Enterprise, Security, or Data Center track

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Current certification required

Preferred Certifications:

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) - Any track

Maintain network uptime of 99.9% or higher for critical healthcare systems

Respond to network incidents within defined SLA timeframes

Complete network changes and implementations with minimal business impact

Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 network support

Continuously update technical skills and maintain relevant certifications

Collaborate effectively with other IT teams and clinical departments

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Deputy General Manager - IT or Network Manager

Collaborates with: System Administrators, Security Specialists, Clinical IT Support Teams

Matrix Relationships: Clinical Department Staff, External Vendors, Cisco TAC

Working Environment

Hospital environment with critical 24/7 operations requirements

On-call responsibilities for network emergencies and planned maintenance

Occasional travel for training, vendor meetings, or multi-site support

May require work during off-hours for maintenance windows and emergen

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
