Work Description:
We need one senior contractor who can lead Microsoft Fabric platform architecture for a customer-facing SaaS applications. This is a hands-on architecture and build role, not advisory only
Workstream : Microsoft Fabric Architecture
Implement Fabric foundations; OneLake, Lakehouses, and Data Warehouses.
Design and optimise ELT/ETL with Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, and Spark Notebooks; ingest from ERP, POS, CRM.
Define engineering standards; naming conventions, workspace organisation, folder structures.
Build semantic models; star schemas, advanced DAX and Power Query (M).
Implement governance and security; Purview for lineage and controls.
Requirements
8-10+ years in data architecture/engineering, including 3-5+ years leading delivery; or equivalent experience
Must-have: delivered Microsoft Fabric architecture (greenfield or major re-architecture) and Power BI Embedded App Owns Data for a SaaS product in production
Strong SQL, PySpark, and Python.
Solid licensing and capacity knowledge; A SKUs and Fabric F SKUs.
Able to produce clear architecture and build specs for both engineers and stakeholders.
Nice to have
Broader Microsoft Azure services experience; Purview, Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor.
Microsoft AI services such as Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio
Strong client-facing skills; able to run technical discovery workshops, translate requirements into clear solution designs, and communicate trade-offs and risks to non-technical stakeholders.
