Metallurgist



Position Title: Metallurgist

Department: Technical/Quality

Reports to: Technical Head/Plant Head

Primary Responsibilities:



Material Analysis and Testing the Metallurgist oversees all metallurgical testing operations using the laboratory's equipment suite. This includes conducting chemical analysis using the spectrometer, performing mechanical testing through hardness and impact testing, and analysing microstructure using metallographic examination. The role requires maintaining testing accuracy and ensuring proper calibration of all equipment.

Process Validation Using the laboratory facilities, the Metallurgist validates heat treatment processes through Jominy end quench testing and hardness profiling. They establish correlations between hardenability data and actual production results. The position involves monitoring process parameters and recommending adjustments based on test results.

Quality Control The role encompasses comprehensive quality control using the available testing equipment. This includes verifying material properties through universal testing, conducting non-destructive testing using MPI, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications through various testing methods.

Microscopic Analysis

Universal Testing Machine

Magnetic Particle Inspection



Authority to establish inspection procedures

Required Skills and Qualifications:



Education A B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering is required. M.Tech in Metallurgy is preferred. Additional certifications in NDT and material testing are beneficial.

Experience The position requires 8-10 years in metallurgy, with demonstrated expertise in operating and interpreting results from various testing equipment. Experience with forging processes and heat treatment is essential.

This position requires balancing theoretical knowledge with practical application while ensuring optimal material properties and process efficiency. The Metallurgist must maintain strong technical expertise while effectively communicating with various departments to achieve manufacturing excellence.

Pay: ?50,000.00 - ?60,000.00 per month
