We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer to lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for NxtQube's next-generation drone docking stations and related hardware. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on design expertise with strong problem-solving skills to create reliable, modular, and manufacturable products that can scale globally.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end mechanical design of drone docking systems, enclosures, and electromechanical assemblies.
Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
Lead prototype development, rapid iteration, and testing cycles to validate design concepts.
Collaborate with electronics, firmware, and industrial design teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Perform tolerance stack-ups, structural analysis, and thermal considerations for reliability.
Work with vendors and suppliers for machining, sheet metal, plastics, and additive manufacturing.
Drive documentation, compliance, and reliability standards for aerospace/industrial-grade systems.
Mentor junior designers/engineers and set best practices for CAD and PLM usage.
Requirements
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
5-8 years of experience in mechanical product design (preferably robotics, aerospace, or industrial automation).
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of materials (metals, composites, polymers), machining, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of Conventional and Advance Manufacturing in Metal, Plastics Molding, and rapid prototyping (Soft Molding, 3D printing, CNC, FRP).
Experience in IP-rated enclosure design, modular systems, and electromechanical integration.
Familiarity with GD&T, FEA, and reliability testing methods.
Hands-on approach with prototyping, testing, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
Prior experience in drone, robotics, or aerospace industries.
Exposure to thermal management, vibration damping, and EMI considerations.
