Key Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical design and development of
medical devices,
ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and clinical experts to create high-quality, manufactural products.
Design and analyse plastic components and assemblies, focusing on material selection, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Perform detailed engineering analysis, including
FEA, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and failure mode analysis.
Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and verification and validation activities.
Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design intent and quality are achieved.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
4-6 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on product development in the medical device industry.
Proven experience in plastic design, including knowledge of plastic materials, plastic moulding processes, and
design for manufacturability
(DFM).
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and standards for medical devices
(e.g., ISO 13485, 60601-1).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with rapid prototyping and product design of medical devices.
Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques and their application in medical device development.
Familiarity with human factors engineering and usability principles.
