Define and implement supplier quality strategy aligned with organizational goals
Developing new suppliers by evaluation methods such as process audits, capability assessments, and sample validations to meet requirement of standards and specifications.
Establish quality agreements, incoming inspection plans, and technical specifications
Ensure quality, regulatory, and contractual requirements consistently from suppliers.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement
Monitor supplier KPIs (Rejection rate, delivery performance, audit scores, NC closure) and drive corrective actions.
Lead RCA, CAPA, and 8D closure for supplier non-conformances and recurring issues.
Collaborate with suppliers for process improvements, defect prevention, and cost reduction initiatives.
Manage development and approval of PPAP, APQP, and FMEA documentation.
Identify gaps and provide training for improvement wherever necessary.
System Compliance & Audits
Ensure & review supplier audits are conducted as per plan (system, process, product) and closure of actions planned and compliance to NCs.
Initiate internal audits for ISO & EHS and review NCs / observations with team.
Guide team and ensure compliance to audit NCs and customer-specific requirements.
Maintain documentation for quality records, certifications, and regulatory compliance
Cross-functional Collaboration
Jointly work with Design, SCM, Production, and QA teams on new part development and engineering changes.
Participate in localization, cost-saving, and vendor rationalization initiatives
Guide supplier quality during NPD projects and trial batch approvals
Reporting & Leadership
Lead the team of supplier quality engineers and SCM executives to ; guide daily activities and skill development
Prepare and present supplier quality performance reviews and improvement roadmaps to management
Drive supplier segmentation and strategic sourcing from a quality perspective
Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of quality systems & procedures, auditing process, Quality Plan.
Dealing with customers such as Power Grid, RDSO, NTPC, Adani, GE, Schneider etc. for routine inspections and audits.
Hands-on experience with quality tools - 8D, FMEA, MSA, APQP, PPAP, SPC, etc.
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and vendor management capabilities.
Exeprience of machining, casting, fabrication, and other manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in ERP systems/SAP, quality MIS, and technical documentation
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Qualification:
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering: min 15 years of experience OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: min 20 years of experience.
Experience:
Experience in handling supplier quality, vendor development, or quality assurance in a manufacturing setup
Preferred experience in dealing with suppliers of Aluminium alloy castings, copper & epoxy castings, porcelain insulators, polymeric insulators and Rubber sealings, CNC/VMC Machining process.
In depth knowledge of material properties, chemical analysis, measuring and test instruments.
